Orbits - Out Now

1. Weightless (feat. AAA+)
2. Midnight

February 9th 2016,

After a string of acclaimed remixes, UK-based Dan Villalobos announces his debut digital release Orbits, a 2-track electronic project - the first in a series of original releases for 2016. Blending a contemporary sound with industrial accents, Orbits embraces Villalobos' sound of the past three years. An international effort, the project features a collaboration with singer-producer AAA+ from Adelaide, Australia.

Orbits is a juxstaposing journey through minimal, industrial electronica, exploring natural cycles of light and darkness, beginnings and endings.

Weightless (co-written with and featuring AAA+), brings a powerful message of hope and joy to the dance floor with determined vocals reaffirming the human desire for a brighter reality; our never ending quest to work side by side.

With pulsating layers, Midnight weaves dark, mechanical undertones, setting the scene for an underground world, crescendoing into an uplifting experience, as we ready for the new day ahead.

Orbits is available now via Bandcamp.

STREAM: Robyn Sherwell - Islander (Dan Villalobos Remix)

Robyn Sherwell's upcoming collection of critically acclaimed songs, the Islander EP, is set for release March 30th 2015, on Birdland Records. I've had the pleasure of creating a fun spin on the track, imagining glowing sunsets over breezy island beaches during the latter days of the winter season. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Catch Robyn perform live at The Lexington, London on March 30th for the EP's launch. Tusks will be joining the party too! Tickets available HERE.

Stream: Maddison Wilson - Birds (Dan Villalobos Remix)

The physical release of Maddison Wilson's latest single, Birds, will feature a remix I recently produced. You can stream & pre-order the physical copy below.

“When I got the remix back from Dan I was blown away! I was captivated from beginning to end - the elements; the layers. It was clear that is was more than just a remix. He has included a handful of sound design elements and techniques, but they’re still dark and twisted, and emotive. I really wanted to give my audience something different, and I felt that releasing both versions was the best way for everyone to get the full 'Birds' experience.” - Maddison Wilson

Edinburgh Festival Fringe

BTD_promo

The last (and first) time I visited Edinburgh my time to appreciate the city was limited to a brisk day trip, which is why I'm excited to return for an entire week this August. Better still, I'll be part of a great London-produced independent production Beneath The Dark as Sound Designer.

Beneath The Dark plays at Paradise in Augustines, August 4th-9th. If you're heading to the festival this year, come by and say hi!

Vessel

I've recently been involved on the making of independent film by Adam Ciancio 'Vessel', as Sound Recordist along with Krisztian Pilisko. You can find out more about the project on their official Facebook page. The crew has just finished shooting the film (using a RED One and RED Scarlet), and it is hoped the project will be finished towards the end of the year, with a view to enter it on the international film festival circuit. The few raw shots I have seen look great, and cannot wait to see the final cut of the film.

More updates on this project to follow!
